Every year on Purim we deliver Mishloach Manot to the Jews living in Manaus. Sometimes it is a long drive to meet them and give them a sense of joy from the holiday. Just last night, after driving for hours around Manaus, our car was located near the home of a Jew that had not been to synagogue in years. Although we had spoken many times, he had not yet come to the synagogue.

As he opened the door he was filled with joy to have such a surprise guest. After a few minutes, we broke into dance and started singing, Mishenichnas Adar Marbim Besimcha,” which means, “When you enter the month of Adar, you are to increase in joy.” He too joined the dancing, and became very emotional because of the visit. As a young child he grew up hearing this song, and now years later he heard it again.
