The embrace was real and authentic. It was not a show for the public, but a sign of brotherly love. At the banquet in front of thousands, the two Pizem brothers from Sderot embraced. They are shluchim like thousands of others, but unique for two reasons: 1) Their age – both under 8 years old 2) Their city was attacked by terrorists on October 7th, and they survived.

One of these young boys spoke with inspiration of his mission and how with all the challenges we must continue to do more. The younger brother was not jealous for his brother getting center stage. He was happy for his brother’s spotlight. It was inspiring to see the two embrace. Over the past few weeks we have seen our fellow brothers in Israel unite, but what about far away from the battlefield. Are we still united?

As many as you know living in the Amazon has it’s great challenges. However, those that struggle the most, are the children. Having likeminded friends, learning online, and all the amenities that a big Jewish community has are currently lacking in Manaus. That is why thanks to your support some of our children fly to New York to participate in the conference and meet fellow classmates and friends, in person.

After the amazing conference me and my two children went to a kosher restaurant. A special treat for their amazing dedication in Manaus. We ordered 3 hamburgers with no fries or drinks. As we began to eat, a man from another table came over and put a full platter of French fries. He said, “This is for you, you, and you.” I was in shock, as no one had ever done that before. Yes, people are generous and support the Chabad house and activities, but very few ask about our personal well-beings, let alone provide the basics like food.

We thanked the man and had the pleasure of seeing brotherly love even far away from the battle field. May we continue to show love and kindness to each other, and hasten victory in this current battle and the bigger one of exile. May Moshiach come now!
